M25 carpark to Dover

As we were driving down to Kent, Nigel was telling me about why it's sometimes called the M25 car park. If there is bad weather at Dover or out to sea , the ferrys don't run . As a lot of trucks (or lorries as they call them here), are from the continent they are making their way back over the crossing. The sheer volume of trucks going to Dover at any one time means if there is a delay they back up and up and up onto the motorway and can continue to back up for 20 miles! This can happen 3 or 4 times a year.! The have to close the motorway as it's just full of stopped trucks in two lanes for 20 miles! Unbelievable. It then becomes a police operation and they bring porta loos and drop them off along the motorway for the truck drivers to use until the weather changes and the ferrys start going again and they can get through the backlog of trucks.....
